Mozcon is a 15 year old, well-know and well-attended SEO and Digital Marketing conference with attendees from all over the globe. Typically held in July, Moz made the decision early into the pandemic to go virtual. With only two-and-a-half months to re-envision and re-plan the event, their goal was to to provide attendees with the same awesome content experience and overall value they would get from the usual live format, requiring them to quickly come up with a new design and attendee engagement strategy.
How Seamless Events Helped Moz Achieve Their Goals
Moz’s primary goal was to ensure superior content, so they made the decision to focus on pre-recording their expert speakers and then make the video recordings available not just during the event, but immediately after to increase participation from their many international attendees in different time zones — this was a great success for the participants who joined them from 49 different countries.
Remote Recording Kits
Seamless provided speakers with Remote Recording Kits that included high-quality A/V tools to ensure the quality of their recordings was both superior and consistent with lighting, audio and video resolution. We also provided high-touch support to the speakers so they could focus on their presentations and not be overwhelmed any with technical issues.
Content Production
To keep audiences engaged, we edited presentations to include transitions from close-up views of the speakers to their slide content along with full closed captioning. We also created custom motion graphics for presentation introductions as well as lower third graphics to emphasize or highlight content.
The Result?
With meticulous preparation, Moz was able to double their usual number of attendees and break-even (it’s important to emphasize that the goal of Mozcon has never been to make a profit).
